BioBlitz
Introduction
This activity aims to enable students to explore and appreciate the natural world that surrounds us. The objective is to raise students’ awareness
of biodiversity through nature observation and encourage them to collect and use scientific data to contribute to the preservation of local
biodiversity, engaging for a greener future.
Objectives
- Empower secondary school students with a hands-on exploration of
biodiversity, fostering species recognition, ecological understanding, and the motivation to actively contribute to biodiversity conservation initiatives.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this learning scenario, students will be able to:
- List the key components of a biodiverse ecosystem
- Explain the significance of biodiversity in maintaining ecological balance
- Apply taxonomy concepts to categorize observed species
- Analyze the collected data to identify prevalent species and their distribution
- Examine the potential impacts of human activities on the observed biodiversity
- Apply the acquired knowledge and skills to conduct a follow-up bioblitz in the same environment, demonstrating a deeper understanding of biodiversity and the ability to independently organize and execute the activity
