It’s Tree Time
Introduction
Ask students what’s nice about trees?
Ask what they know about trees and human health. (You could put up a KWL chart)
Objectives
- For students to understand that trees are essential to health,
especially to the health of children and old people - For them to judge whether there is a fair allocation between
neighbourhoods - For students to contribute to organised tree-planting efforts
Learning outcomes
By the end of this learning scenario, students will be able to:
- Explain the connection between trees and health
- Know how tree density varies among city neighbourhoods and that
higher income areas tend to do better. - Compare this with the density in poor neighbourhoods
- Consider the justice of this i.e. should everyone have the right to live
with trees? - Do something to help
